Construction Steps A-Z
New Construction Projects
It is important to be aware of all the steps of a construction project so you can avoid as many surprises as possible.
1.Survey – The surveyor will establish property boundaries, easements, determine topography and elevations and identify future locations for utilities and buildings.
2.Design – The architect will design every aspect of the building making sure the project meets your aesthetic and functional desires and local and state building and safety codes.
3.Permitting – Your contractor will oversee the acquisition of all Orlando building permits.
4.Site prep – An excavation contractor will be responsible for preparing your vacant land for the building project including drainage, utilities and footer and slab prep.
5.Utilities – All underground utilities such as cable, power, gas and water will be installed prior to the start of your building.
6.Foundation – Next comes the concrete trucks to pour your building’s footers and slabs.
7.Framing or Masonry – Walls and roof joists come next.
8.Roofing – The roofing contractor will “dry in” your building to prepare for the remaining interior work.
9.Electrical and Plumbing– The electrical and plumbing contractors will install everything in your building that is hidden, prior to interior walls being installed.
10. Finish – Interior walls, ceilings, flooring, windows…will all be installed.
11.Inspections – Inspections are done at various phases of the construction project. The final inspection will be done so that a CO (certificate of Occupancy can be issued)
